A very common question; do they shed a lot?
Well, eh, that depends 😄

The amount of coat depends on several factors

• Climate. Where does the Silken live, what country, what climate? How cold is it really and how much time does the dog spend outside in really cold wheather?
• Food, good quality food will produce bigger coats than food of lesser quality
• Genes, some lines carry more coat than others
• Intact females will shed approx 4 months after being in season, but can still amass quite a lot of coat in between
• Adult males that has shed the junior/youth coat and has the adult coat, can add more and more coat at least up until around 10 years of age.
• It is not uncommon that really old Silkens will have less coat than they had in their prime.
• Some will say that white coats, even just the white parts of a dog, will shed more than the other colors. They will at least shed faster than the darker colors.
