So small such deviations were normally never reported when dogs were X-rayed. The vet saw them, but the info never reached the dogs owners. Because it was considered too minor to care about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At that time, German Shepherds (GSDs) were by far the breed most commonly X-rayed in Sweden.<br>During those days, only one single vet in Sweden, Lars Audell, evaluated EVERY single hip X-ray!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Audell told me that about 15 percent of all X-rays of GSD showed this anomaly to some extent, but the anomaly was too minor to go into the reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also told me that it is obvious that there is a genetic factor, but nobody has made any studies into this and inheritance is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately I have a feeling we are still more or less at the same point today&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-border-color has-custom-starcastle-gol-border-color has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-34a480d6 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"border-width:3px;padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the X-rays of my own dogs, I knew one thing, every single one had perfect hips. There was never any question about that. It was the last vertebra that bothered me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a couple of years I tried again and again to draw attention to my findings, in Sweden, in Europe, in USA. <strong>Crickets!!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody cared. At all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I gave up, why spend a fortune on X-raying dogs when nobody cares? As it was written with Whippets in mind, it may be worthwhile using an online translator if you do not read Norwegian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Also worth noticing:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is an <a href=\"https:\/\/siriusdog.com\/tvs-cauda-equina-syndrome-spondylosis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" title=\"\">old article<\/a> mentioning <strong>Bonnie Dalzell<\/strong> (Borzoi kennel Silkenswift, USA ) where she talks about transitional vertebrae in Borzoi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s not forget <strong>Dr Anne Midgarden<\/strong> (Borzoi kennel Teine, USA) and her speed studies discussing speed in Borzoi and spinal anomalies.
